This blog post in 1 minute…

We’ve looked at the trends in 2022 so far and what’s needed or could grow in the app world and here are some of our ideas.

Remember that your app idea doesn’t need to be unique, some of the best apps build on what was already developed but make the service or product even better.

Perhaps you will invent the next food delivery app but add a twist that pulls in your customers in droves?

Here are our app ideas for 2022. If you need an app designed or developed, send us a message. We are Glitterbug – Ireland’s most creative app design & development shop!

    Walking Recommendation App

A great app idea for 2022 is a walk/journey recommendation/ review app which would provide users with suggestions from people who like to explore different walking routes.

The users could put out reviews and recommendations of what people need to bring on the walk, what safety information they need to follow, what kind of experience they need for the walk and what amenities are near by e.g. outdoor toilets, bins, shops, etc.

You could combine it with an online shop to sell goods for walkers from energy bars and flasks to walking boots and coats. The app could also track how much the user has walked, their average walking speed, altitude traversed and roughly how many calories they have burned while walking.

    2. Eco Flowers App

An eco flowers app could provide users with an easy way to find locally grown, organic, eco friendly and seasonal flowers in their area and have these flowers delivered (perhaps in an eco friendly way) or collect them.

There could also be information on the problems with most floristry such as pollution, waste, poor wages for growers in Africa and the massive carbon footprint or importing flowers.

This fantastic app idea would be a hit for customers or florists or online flower farms who seek to buy eco-friendly, organic, locally produced or seasonal flowers.

What a perfect way to say ‘I love you’ in an eco friendly, sustainable fashion that supports both the planet and local flower farms.

Your users could search by flower type, occasion or area. They could receive reminders or automatic re-reorders for birthdays, anniversaries or other repeating special occasions and you could even combine with other eco-friendly gift makers and crafters in the area to provide an even fuller service for the eco conscious consumer.

Live chat could enable users to get more info from the florists and there could be an FAQ section where florists answer questions on their sustainability credentials.

You could have a wedding section, reviews and ratings and even a loyalty scheme.

    3. Holiday Planning App

Going on holidays is a lot of fun but planning them can be stressful. What if there was as a mobile app that can take the hard work out or planning and saving for your hols?

You could help your users discover different trips and plan from the start to the end of their trip, booking accommodation, events, tours and activities from where the trip will start to where it should end.

You could partner with a local guide about the hotels, tourism, museums, getting there, where to eat, etc. This could take the strain out of organising your trip.

To make things a bit different, you could allow users to get holiday ideas after answering questions, choosing between inspiring photos, based on previous choices or based on budget or dietary requirements.

To really mix things up and revolutionize holiday booking you could have a ‘mystery location’ button where the user chooses the continent, the dates, the budget and a few other necessities and they get a totally random holiday destination with accommodation, transport and activities all booked in advance while still keeping it a surprise for the holidaymaker!

    4. Seasonal Food App

This fantastic app idea would be really useful for users who wish to buy seasonal, fresh or locally grown foods. What a perfect way to stay healthy, take care of the planet and reduce the carbon emissions on your foods.

There would be a list of seasonal foods for your location based on the time of the year and seasonal recipes containing these foods.

You can also put your idea into the category of a fitness app or even turn it into a seasonal food delivery app.

    5. On-Demand Gift and Flowers Delivery

Imagine this scenario: You have to go to an event or birthday party and you have totally forgotten to buy a gift for the person or get a bottle of wine or some flowers for the host.

You are busy – you have to get ready for the event, find a gift, buy the gift, get it wrapped up and get a card too as well as trying to reach the venue. There is a big chance that you will be late!

Wouldn’t it be handy if while you are getting ready, someone else does all the other work? That would save you a lot of time on such a busy day?

The gift, flowers and card could all be delivered to the address of the even while you are on your way or even timed so that it arrives just as you do so you can meet your delivery person before entering the event.

This is why an on-demand gift/flower/card delivery app would be on our list of fantastic 2022 app ideas.

    6. Voice translation app

One of the biggest concerns when travelling abroad is how to make yourself understood in the language of the country and there can sometimes be stress when trying to communicate in another tongue.

An app that can instantly translate what you are saying would be the perfect app for 2022 both for yourself and for your users.

Your user would be able speak into to the phone and their words would be immediately translated to their desired language.

The app will have to work both ways where the other language can also be translated back into your language in real-time.

    7. Karaoke App

Karaoke is just so much fun.

With an app that captures the entertainment essence of karaoke, your users could happily sing together and use inbuilt voice and visual filters and share their karaoke hits on social media.

This music app could be a lot of fun of parties and social events, even for digital events in these socially distanced times. It could also be used by professional singers or musicians who want to practice their daily routine.

It is a simple app concept that could attract a lot of users, especially with the social sharing aspect.

    8. Budgeting App

    9. Shopping centre navigation map

A digital navigation map for a shopping centre or similar indoor venue would have a digital map of all the shops and utilities.

The user’s position on the map would be shown and the map would focus on the area where the user is as well as being able to show directions to an area or shop of the user’s choice.

Users would easily be able to navigate the shopping centre or entertainment complex and quickly find what they are looking for as well as getting the best out of the experience.

As well getting directions leading up to it on how to get inside and where to get parking if needed, the user could see other things like specific meal choices, products or information on queue time in shops.

It would be brilliant for larger shopping complexes where users often complain of getting lost or being unable to find what they are looking for.

With the help of the app the user could easily and quickly find the shop or category of shop that they are looking for.

They could also book a table at one of the restaurants or even order a sandwich while shopping and collect it later.

There could be special offers, real time announcements or even information on the restaurant, parking spot or crowdedness of the shopping centre.

    10.  Hidden Gems recommendation app

A hidden gem is a place, event or activity that is not well known but it brilliant. These often include indepenent theatre events, little cafes and restaurants, walks, tours and even districts of cities.

A hidden gems recommendation app would capture this often changing information based on direct user experiences.

Users or providers would add these places and offer suggestions.

This app would be perfect for users who like to explore different ‘off the beaten track’ places and activities in different locations around the world.

The users could provide suggestions, mention unique, independent eateries, bars, theatre, events or festivals and provide information on them as well as ratings.
